Polestar is a Swedish electric performance car brand, focused on innovation, premium minimalism, and sustainability. Rooted in its design-led heritage, Polestar is committed to reducing environmental impact through circular design, responsible sourcing, and full lifecycle transparency. Every product reflects a fusion of advanced engineering, digital intelligence, and a bold commitment to climate action.

Objective

We worked on the intersection of digital and physical interfaces with a high focus on digital experiences and sustainable materials on the interior. The goal was to define the in-car experience for the future of the brand and align it with the identity of the brand and new aesthetics to make sure all was aligned. This work helped establish the visual, interaction, and spatial logic for Polestar’s in-car brand experience. It laid the groundwork not only for Polestar 3 but for a scalable approach across future models.

1-Digital User Experience

The central infotainment system, powered by Android Automotive OS, delivers a seamless, user-centric experience. Key features include:

  • Intuitive voice and touch controls

  • Dual-screen setup with real-time data & entertainment split

  • Personalised driver profiles and over-the-air updates

2-Sustainability in Materials

The interior reflects Polestar’s sustainability mission through:

  • Bio-attributed MicroTech and animal-welfare certified wool upholstery

  • Recycled PET headlining and ECONYL® carpets from ocean waste

  • Low-impact natural fiber composites for panels and trims

3-Spatial and Sensory Design

Interior comfort and interaction are shaped around a calm, responsive environment:

  • Slim, floating dashboard layout

  • Minimal physical buttons to reduce visual noise

  • Integrated ambient lighting supporting both aesthetics and wellbeing

This project was a unique opportunity to contribute to the foundational design of a new electric vehicle brand. Working collaboratively with the advanced interior team, we helped shape how digital interfaces and physical components communicate cohesively within a premium electric SUV. Our design approach was guided by simplicity, harmony, and meaningful innovation—creating not just a car interior, but a signature experience for Polestar users.
